Recompile of Kernel, Slack 10: i've lost device support

I have recompiled my kernel for a fresh install of slackware 10. I followed DaOne's howto but my Linksys 10/100 ethernet card no longer functions. The only other addin cards is Wintv 901 card and a Highpoint sata adapter. both of which work under linux.

i selected the tulip driver as a module

how do i get it to work again?
thanks

Is it a 2.6 kernel ? if yes, try to enable hotplug and udev in /etc/rc.d

As far I know, the tulip module is for on-board net card (net card built in the mother board). Is it your case ?

tulip drivers covers a really broad group of cards. Many Linksys cards are one of them also several generic nic cards. Somewhere (i believe the kernel docs) it supports a nic chip with a number like 85##...
It is one of those modules that is worth leaving in an kernel.
