recent netbooks and Slackware

ORIGINAL TEXT:

Hi All,

Just wondering whether anyone had acquired one of those swell lil' dm1z thangs and gotten Slackware working on it?

I've heard some rumbles from Ubuntu-land that the wireless card may not work so well with Linux, but that may just be a 64-bit issue ...

UPDATE:

So ...

I've retitled this post in a less machine-specific fashion ... the thing is, I managed to turn my Asus eeePC 1000HE into a small brick last week, and am looking for a replacement.

If anyone has hardware recommendations for a portable (netbook or even small laptop) machine, somewhere in the under $500 range, that works well with Slackware, well, please let me know. I've been looking at the above-mentioned HP dm1z, the Acer Aspire 522, and a few others, but (as they are all pretty new) I can't find much specific information whether Linux is significant-problem-free on these boxes or not ...

Thank you,

Glenn

Hmm. It looks as though if I want anything with the new AMD Fusion chips, I will have to wait for the 2.6.38 kernel:

Many thanks for the link. I really like their T-shirt, "Friends Help Friends Use Linux."
