rebooting laptop corrupts video
I just installed Slackware 13.37 on an old Toshiba Portege M200; and I've run into my first issue.
When I reboot the system (using init 6, shutdown -r, or reboot) the video gets corrupted - colored squares, lines, etc. I can see what appears to be the scrolling messages, but they are unreadable. I can, however log in and run commands at the comand line if I wait for the system to settle.
If I do a complete shutdown and power off, then power back on, the video is fine - I have it set for 1024x768 until the nouveau driver takes over and it goes to 1400x1050 (might want to bring that resolution down later by editing lilo.conf as per CHANGES_AND_HINTS).
Any ideas why reboot corrupts the video? I thought I saw something like this once, but can't find it anymore.
Video is Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200 (NV34M).
