Rear speakers on 5.1 surround sound don't work

Hi all,

I've never been able to get my rear speakers working in slackware. Was wondering if anybody has an 'nforce2' motherboard w/onboard audio.

The rear speakers work in Suse. Anyway yast reports the sound the same way as slackware does.

I'm nosing around in suse seeing if they did any tweaks to the sound settings.

Anyone get their rear speaker's to work.

You should take a look at the levels that are set in 'alsamixer'. On my nforce2 board I had to unmute Surround, Duplicat and set Channel to 6ch to get my surround to work. If you don't get it to work, just play with the settings until you get it right. Don't forget to run 'alsactl store' as root to save your settings.

Oh you are right, clicking the "duplicate front" in "kmix" brought my rear speakers on.

I thought at first that was 'jipping' myself, and booted up into SUSE mode, and saw that they have it on their too.
