Which are you doing - installing an rpm in Slackware or Red Hat? If in Slack, you may be better off downloading the .tar.gz file and compiling it.

you also have the options of installing only the realplayer libraries and using xine or mplayer to watch real media. in xine, you just enter the setup and point it to the directory where you have installed the realplayer libs. you can get the libraries from the mplayer website, and they work with both xine and mplayer.

If you have all the files listed as dependencies, it might work with:

rpm -ivvh --nodeps RealPlayer8*

As mentioned, you're better off with using the rp codecs with
mplayer or xine. Sometimes rpm works pretty good in Slack.
The only advantage, if this works is, saves time.

Or you can convert the rpm package to a slackware package with the fallowing command; rpm2tgz
