reading all physical volumes scan on the beginning

heres scenario:

Im playing with lvm for quite some time. Need some of assistance with my conclusion.

Trying to do slackware installation on lvm, installation is preformed like i want with some modifications, but heres what i want assistance to clarify my understading :

I want to have root lvm partition, and /boot to be ext3
in lilo.conf to root directive i put root=/dev/vg/root

but the problem is i get msg please a correct root= boot option. Kernel panic. From my understanding i get this msg because of trying to find first ext3 rooted partition , and then scanningf for all physical volumes. And thats why it cant find root partition because it didnt preform the scan first. Am i right ?

So ive checked rhel4, and notice that after pressing enter on grub, its immediately scanning for physical volumes, in order to find lv, on the contrary whats slackware doing, from my understanding. Thats what i want others to post to see if i understood the process correctly.

and on rhel i have lvm root partition with more lvs and /boot for ext3 and it boot up without a problem.

If my conclusions are correct, is there a way to force slackware to preform physical volumes scan right on the beginning ?

Thanks!

You need to modify the linuxrc file inside the initrd to use LVM. I have tried it but couldn't get it to work.
So basically add lvm commads to /boot and modify the initrd's linuxrc to scan for LVM's and making them active before the linuxrc tries to mount the root partition as otherwise it will cause a kernel panic.
