rc.wireless.conf and rc.inet1.conf for wireles cards

I know that this maybe better suited for "networking" but I seem to get better advice when I post in this forum.

I've got two computers, one wired and one wireless on a linksys router which is hooked to a motorola surfboard cable modem.

Anyhow, I just managed to get the wireless one up and running after I figured out how to get setup on my network and not my neighbors ( ha ha ).

The question is that I never could get the rc.wireless.conf to work and ended up setting it up using the rc.inet1.conf.

The question is does it matter?
Is that normal to set it up in the rc.inet1.conf?

I think I read something about this but can not find where I read it and don't recall what it said. I'm new to networking so I've been trying to read and understand everything.

Thanks...

normally, from what I have seen in these files, you need to set up the wireless-specific information (essid, encryption, ...) in rc.wireless.conf, and the IP information (DHCP for me) in rc.inet1.conf
