I also tried with 14.1, 64 bit. Compiled error free (without optional dependencies) but no joy here, either.

I wonder if one has to rebuild Thunar to make this work, guess I will try it tomorrow morning.

Well, success here on Slackware64 14.0. I rebuild and upgraded the tumbler package (the one from patches), logged back in to Xfce and: Voilà, I get thumbnails for my Nikon NEF raw files.

Edit: To make it clear ... Nothing in /usr/libexec gets build, was called by me from hand and so on. I suspect that restarting X is necessary though.
