Ralink 2870 with recent Slackware-current

Hi,

I got a problem with my Ralink 2870 wireless, it doesn't work saying:

Code:
kernel: rt2800usb 1-3.3:1.0: firmware: requesting rt2870.bin
firmware.sh[2599]: Cannot find firmware file 'rt2870.bin'
The same issue if I install 2.6.34 kernel.
I have tried to get the firmware_v8 from ralink site but then I got a message that the firmware is too old and version 12 is required.

Has somebody experienced the same and how it is possible to overcome the issue?

Thank you.

I've dealt with this before, not rt2870 directly, but shipped kernel firmware being out of date.

Try getting the firmware from git
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/netwo....git;a=summary

Which indecently has a 4k rt2870 blob, where as upstream has an 8k binary firmware blob.

Here's the md5sum I got from ralinktech.com
cfc8663dc0c671f1cf022c791b2f1283 rt2870.bin
