Could you send me source of LSI MegaIDE ATA RAID driver (with instructions how to install it). A want to migrate form RH9 to Fedora Core 1 and compiled driver for RH9 got from LSI does not want to work….
I finally succeeded to install my system using "Installation" instead of "Manual installation". I can now see my array as /dev/sda and I can configure different partitions. But when I boot I cannot mount the root file system:
VFS: Cannot open root device "sda1" or 08:01
Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:01
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks a lot.

Had a hard time finding the LSI CSB6 driver for my Proliant ML330 G3 and RedHat9.
HP provides on their webstie their only driver, but only for RH8.
With nothing else available I installed RH8 with that driver - worked. I saw initial error messages during boot (hde lost interrupt) - according to HP this is nothing to worry about:
Once booted the machine worked fine, but I was unable to use the floppy drive.
When I found this thread I got the Megaide driver from LSI (for RH9). Installed RH9 - no problems at all, floppy works too.
Now I'm on to my next step: get a 2.6 kernel on that machine (for several features, but mainly the POSIX ACLs. Has anyone had success with this? (using the megaide driver)
I've got the same machine and RH9 and I wanted to switch to Fedora but compiled driver for RH9 do not work. So I obtained half compiled driver from LSI Support. They gave me some instructions but only how to compile and install driver for a secondary controller. I do not know how to make a driver and to load it at the beginning of the installation (probably linux dd)- in ML330 LSI controller is a primary controller after all !!

Thanks a lot.

You can configure the Raid through the BIOS - when the machine boots up hit F8 before Linux starts loading. Configure it to use RAID0 or 1 (or whatever you want to use), from then on it looks to Linux like one drive.

Maybe someone can help...
Michal,
looks like we're both working on the same problem (getting Fedora to run on it). Actually, RH9 would be fine for what I want to do with it (Samba-LDAP server), but I'm just curious now on how to get this thing to work with Fedora (or even better: any stock-kernel, including 2.6).
I have a few kernle patches in mind that I would like to apply to that system (nothing related to the RAID driver, but impossible to use if I can't get the RAID driver to work with a custom kernel.)
When you said you have a "hal-compiled" driver, what do you mean by that? All I've found on LSI's site were the drivers for RH8 and RH9, in a tgz archive containing the driver disk images. These work fine for the system (i.e. the kernel) they were compiled for, but don't help much with a different setup (i.e. Fedora, or even RH9 with a custom kernel.) Please let me know if you have anything else. I've contacted LSI support with this question, answer pending.
Originally posted by cboren I mailed the manufacturer of this card and they supplied me with a open source driver. It worked great in Slackware 9.1, I'm now booting my system from on a RAID1 raid on the Megaide controller.
I have a HP ML330 G3. I have the same problem with the raid-controller. I need it to work under Mandrake 9.2. Have gotten the source from LSI but I can't get it to work. Has anyone got a solution?

I'm running the Compaq ProLiant ML-310 Server with softwareraid, because i want to use debian on it, but i didn't find a opensource driver. And I've lot of problems with this softwareraid.
I hope anyone is going to help me by sending me this driver .
I wonder if someone could mail me the source for lsi megaraid IDE ATA 100 driver. I'm trying to instal it on debian.
I'tryed to debianise the RH driver with no success.
It's my last try before I bought a pci RAID controller with driver debian support :-/
