Recently updated/new install of slackware 10.0, was surprised to see that I am unable to "tweak" my monitor settings under the peripherals tab in the KDE Control Center. I had been accustomed to selecting my monitor from list presented which included the refresh rates and monitor resolution rates. I am now "stuck" using a flickering, less than desirable sized desktop.
In 10.0, I am given less options, of which "settings for screen", "screen size", and "refresh rates" seem defaulted, can I get around this without too much of a "sweat"?
Followed your advice, although not in the sequence you had given, needless to say I have a better resolution at this time. One question though, by running through xorgconfig AND /etc/X11/xorg.conf I seem to be unable to amend my "refresh rates". I did input the correct vertical and horizontal sych rates as deemed appropriate for the monitor resolution, but was never prompted for a "refresh rate", now I have an almost intolerable flickering to my monitor.
When I go to KDE : Control Center, selecting peripherals, then selecting display, I am shown the screen size (1280 x 1024), with the refresh rate of 86 Hz. The 86 Hz is not changeable through the drop down menu. Where does this 86Hz come from, is it arbitrarily determined from the sync rates, how can this be changed?
Any help would be appreciated, and thanks gbonvehi for your earlier assistance.
