Question on `vacation` program

I want to change the vacation reply interval to 1 day: `vacation -r 1`. I'm confused by the man page,
Quote:
Set the reply interval to interval days. The default is one week. An interval of ``0'' or ``infinite'' (actually, any non-numeric character) will never send more than one reply. The -r option should only be used when the vacation database is initialized (see -i above).
So, do I just do this once when initializing the the database?
Code:
vacation -i -r 1 user
Or do I need to put this in the .procmailrc script as well so it sets the interval on every message?:
Code:
   :0c
        |/usr/bin/vacation -r 1 user

Hi,

You should run once the following command to initialize the db and set the reply interval to one day:
Code:
vacation -i -r 1
Of course you should run it as the user that wants to activate the vacation.

Then you can use either a .forward (default), or .procmailrc (as in your case), to invoke the autoresponder when you get an email. The syntax is the same:
Code:
|/usr/bin/vacation user
Regards

Thanks bathory, that's exactly what I've done.
