question about Xpm library version

Code:
$ grep '^Version:' /usr/lib64/xpm.pc
Version: 3.5.11
Code:
$ ls /usr/lib64/libXpm.so*
/usr/lib64/libXpm.so  /usr/lib64/libXpm.so.4  /usr/lib64/libXpm.so.4.11.0
Code:
$ ls /var/log/packages/libXpm-*
/var/log/packages/libXpm-3.5.11-x86_64-2
/var/log/packages/libXpm-compat32-3.5.11-x86_64-2compat32
I'm a little confused. Is there a reason why the versions don't match?

4.11.0 it's how the developers decided to version the shared library in 2005 and it has remained the same since (most probably because it indicates an API version), it's not tied to the version of the package
