Question about xfce4 behavior

Although i configured Thunar to open files and folders on single click , i cannot get the window manager to do the same for a file or folder on the Desktop , i always have to double-click to open said items , annoying...there must be a tweak or something i am missing here , tried to find answer on google and xfce4 site but to no avail.
(xfce4 version of slackware-13.37)
thanks , nutronix

That is the way Xfce is. I never found a fix for a double click to open desktop icons. Things I use all the time, I add an icon to the panel at the bottom ( or top ) of the screen. If you find a way to accomplish desktop single click, please post it.
