Question about compiling x
Hi. I am considering upgrading my X11 packages on a Slackware 64 14.0 box. I like the idea of running mesa 9.1 and it seems that the best thing to do may be to just build from the entire x package group from the -current tree. The thing that I don't know is how much of the rest of the 14.0 tree is built with dependencies on the x stack that is currently in 14.0. Am I likely to cause serious breakage by doing this?

I don't think that you need to compile other packages from current except libdrm.
