Qt4 and font antialiasing not working on 12.2.0

On my Slackware 12.2.0 I've installed the current Qt-4.4.3 from source. The configure script detects fontconfig and a Qt4 including fontconfig is build. However Qt4 apps (I've tried qtconfig and designer) do not support antialiased fonts. Qt3 and other apps (Open Office, JDK 1.6, ...) work just fine.
Fiddling around with .fonts.conf did not help -- as mentioned fontconfig antialiasing is working, but not with Qt4.

Some searching yields to disabled antialiasing entries in /etc/fonts/conf.d/* disabling this function globally for Qt4 on other distros. I did not found such entries on Slackware, however.

Do you have any ideas how to solve this?

I have no problem with Qt 4.4.3.
Subpixel rendering and TTF bytecode interpreter are disabled in Slackware. However, I don't think this affects anti-alias. If they do, try turning them on in the SlackBuild script of freetype.
