qemu network not working after upgrade to current

I have upgraded from Slackware64 14.1 to Slackware-current (2nd Januari 2019) with a complete new install.
Unfortunately my virtual machines are without network now.
I googled and could not really conclude that my scripts should not be operational any more.

Quote:

#!/bin/sh
# This script created by AQEMU

USERID=$(whoami)
IFACE=tap0

echo "Bringing up $1 for bridged mode......"
sudo /usr/sbin/openvpn --mktun --dev $IFACE --user $USERID
sudo /sbin/ifconfig $IFACE 0.0.0.0 promisc up
echo "creating bridge"
sudo /usr/sbin/brctl addbr br0
echo "Adding $IFACE to br0......."
sudo /usr/sbin/brctl addif br0 $IFACE

#
/usr/bin/qemu-kvm \
-smp 4,cores=2,threads=2,sockets=1 \
-enable-kvm \
-m 8192 \
-drive file=/images/Slackware14_2.img,if=ide,index=0,media=disk,cache=writeback \
-boot once=d,menu=off \
-vga vmware \
-net nic,model=i82551 \
-net tap,ifname="$IFACE",script=no,downscript=no \
-fsdev local,security_model=passthrough,id=fsdev0,path=/tmp/share \
-device virtio-9p-pci,fsdev=fsdev0,mount_tag=hostshare \
-name "Slackware32" $*

echo "Bringing down $IFACE......"
sudo brctl delif br0 $IFACE
sudo /usr/sbin/openvpn --rmtun --dev $IFACE

The one thing I found differently is the way the bridge is setup.
So I tried :

Quote:

sudo ip tuntap add $IFACE mode tap use $USERID
sudo ip link set $IFACE up
sudo ip link set $IFACE master $br0
That made no difference.

In the early scripts I made use of vlans.

Quote:

-net nic,vlan=0,model=i82551 \
-net tap,vlan=0,ifname="$IFACE",script=no,downscript=no \
Is that deprecated ?

Any suggestions ?

best regards,

Simon

i use -net nic,macaddr=02:00:00:11:11:xx,model=i82551 -net bridge,br=br0
and have a file /etc/qemu/bridge.conf
containing
Code:
allow br0
(replace xx with 2 hex digits)
and in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf there is a suitable br0 entry replacing the eth0 entry.
that works for me.
obviously change the mac address to a different unique one so you don't get issues with multiple vm's on
the same lan/pc

Thanks timsoft.

You set me of in the right direction.
I forgot to define a bridge in rc.inet1.conf
