Pulseaudio + Slackware64-current
Well, I'm loving Slackware. New favourite distribution. But I can't seem to get Pulseaudio to work, and I need it. I have compiled it and installed it but at boot I am still using ALSA :/
Please help me! This is really annoying! |
If you are new to Slackware, better stay with -stable (14.1 at the moment).
Where did you install PulseAudio from? Just out of curiosity, what do you need it for? |

Also read the README.Slackware in the package's build directory for the requirements: Code:
Slackware package for Valve's Steam Client for Linux. |
Thanks for Steam, but knowing me, I have already met another problem. Mumble won't detect my microphone with ALSA. Also, in the list of choices in the Mumble client, OSS is listen, although not installed.

Slackbuilds for 14.1 are for 14.1. They are not guaranteed to work on -current.
There may just be a problem with your Mumble build. |

By the way, it works fine on 64bit current. |

You know yenn Everything in this thread has been solved as far back as SLK14.0 tad bit of search. please take time and look at your sound card problem.

You could try OSSv4 from Slackbuilds.org as an alternative to ALSA if Steam has issues. OSSv4 does have an ALSA emulation mode and should work flawlessly with some hardware. The only issue I know of offhand OSSv4 has is with some USB microphones due to the lack of a proper audio stack with them.
