Hi...the "Prt Scr/SysRq" key on my keyboard doesn't work. Searched google/forums, still stuck.
Anybody know what I need to edit in or do?

KDEs default setting is Ctrl-Prt or Alt-Prt (one for Screen, one for
Window; can't remember which is which since I don't use KDE). If you
don't like the default, fire up kcontrol and change it ;)

What do you want to do? If you want to print the current screen or window, then that is a function of keyboard mapping within the particular desktop environment or window manager you are using.

If you want to use the SysRq function then you have to recompile the kernel and enable that function.

If you are using KDE, then that desktop environment has two built-in keyboard sequences similar to Windows:

1. Alt-Print Screen to capture the window with the current focus
2. Ctrl-Print Screen to capture the entire screen.

Both of these hotkey sequences, like Windows, only copies the contents to the clipboard.

To copy the screen capture to a file, as previously mentioned, there is a screen capture utility called KSnapShot that provides additional flexibility. I have assigned the hotkey sequence of Alt-Ctrl-Print Screen to launch KSnapShot.

I can't offer any advice outside of KDE, however, although I suspect the GIMP provides a screen capture option.

In Flux I have assigned Ctrl-F11 to ExecCommand
Code:
import -window root ~/screen`date +%Y%m%d-%H%M%S`.jpg
which works quite well ;} ... of course I need to clean-up
those things every so often.

Cheers,
Tink
