i have purchased online and just received this nice thinghy from slackware.org.
considering what we all pay in so many bull**** stuff and are used to paying for commercial applications, and that patrick has recently had a hard time in and out from clinics, i thought this was just a very microscopic sign of my gratitude for putting so much effort on something we are all enjoying from.
maybe this will raise some envy, create a purchase impulse and help pat a little more
Your post got me to poking around the store.
Purchased a preorder of the next book, few case plates & the hat.
I figured your right. I should give something back for this OS I'm using.
Hard to believe how much work goes into Slack.
It's ended my viri/trojan/lockup/rpmhell headaches, installing Slack9.0 was the best move I made.
I'm grateful for the work he's done.
Better this than wasting my $ on an annual antivirus subscription.

didn't see that one before, i really wanted to get into nerdie world with the doll so i stopped there
i'm rather curious on the book... please do post your comments once you have read it!
cheers,
aj.
Yea thats the one. I always wear hats, so hopefully it's a nice one.
I'll post on the book once I get to check it out.
Although I guess it's not ready to ship yet being it's a preorder.
It is a cool ball cap. I have 2 and wear then constantly... I will say that the dye used fades really quick if your out in the sun alot... That why I have 2... One is brown, the other is black...
I just shelled out for 3 bumper stickers (one for the cover of my laptop and the other two I don't know where I am going to put. I am thinking either my bike or office door.
I also got one of those 1"x1" stickers, I have no idea what I am going to do with it, but I just found myself wanting one! The Slackware store is addictive!!

My laptop has not one, but two stickers telling me that it's "designed for Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" - so I have no doubt that that 1x1 case badge will fit nicely somewhere on your laptop.
Going back to the book, I hope after this release the next one won't take such a long time, what, the last book was released in like 2000? It would be nice if it can just be updated each time there is a major version release of Slackware, like from 10 or in this case since the book is based on 10.1 , that the next book should obviously focus on 11

Now you've got me thinking I want one as well.
Lol, resistance is futile
I was lucky enough to get my Thinkpad with no OS and no "Designed for..." stickers. The only one it has is a centrino sticker but that is right under my left wrist when I type so I don't want to put the Slackware sticker there. Maybe on the touch-pad because I never use that (I *hate* those things)
Serious Slackware T-Shirt
Slackware Hat
7" Penguin
(3) 1x1 Case Stickers
And a lot of the "Contribute's".. I won't specify the quantity here..
And I do finally plan on buying the next release which will probably be 11.0.. might just end up getting a subscription, even though I keep my systems up to date with Current..
But the coolest thing I got was when he dropped by the LQ.org booth and hung out with us for two days in the booth while at the LWE San Francisco 2003.. I got a cool Slackware mini ScrewDriver and a bumper sticker from him personally.. he stopped by again the next year in SF but I didn't make that.. finegan and jeremy have more stories from that one..
