Hi!
I have tried a few times to start my "Promise SATA 150 TX2 Plus(swedish)" but have only failed.. Maybe i have wrong drivers ? I don't find any on their homepage and can't find my CD..
I have slack10 with 2.4.

We have another forum regarding this same problem under Fedora Core 3 install at http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=272365

The upshot is that, if you have at least a PDC20378 (a.k.a. Promise SATA 150 TX2+, PCI ID 105a:3373). the 2.6 kernel does not yet support it unless you add a libata patch from http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kern...-dev1.patch.gz.

There was mention of getting the 2.4 kernel in RedHat 9 working with a driver provided by Promise (http://www.promise.com/support/downl...wnload_eng.asp, the card is a "FastTrak S150 TX2plus"). If you select "other" for OS, the site will cough up some Linux source code that you might be able to integrate into Slackware's kernel.

You can go and grab the latest 2.6.* kernel from http://www.kernel.org and compile it with Promise SATA support. I am not sure whether you need any kernel patch as mentioned by Kaziber. But generally, Slackware core values is NOT to patch the kernel unless it is absolutely necessary. In this case, it means if the hardware is not supported by the kernel. Which I think is unlikely.
