Just got my hands on a new Compaq notebook with a cdr/w. I`ve just installed Slack 9.1 on it and using GNOME on my desktop.
Now, any suggestions to what program I could use to burn cd`s. This is my first computer with a burner, so i`m lost here.
Thanks in advance.
Slackware comes with cdrecord by default.. if you want a GUI interface instead of using the command line, you'll need to download one. Like XCDRoast is one, gcombust, Nautilus has one now with Gnome.. eroaster and so on just to name a few.
For the Gnome desktop, you might want to use X-CD-Roast. K3b will require the QT lib, which is what KDE is based on..................You'll still be able to use K3b under Gnome if you install the libs for QT, tho'...................Just thought I'd bring this to your attention.
so that is to burn cd. my question is how do i look at dvd's one my linux box i got slackware 9.1 and the gxine 0.3.3 keeps timing out i can get to play my dvd's.

Rep:
i would expect mplayer is installed with the full install
the syntax is
mplayer -dvd 1
for in the terminal. you may have to do a few other things first beforee that
works. search for mplayer and dvd on this site. there are several threads.
