.profile in slack


Hey,
Where is the .profile file located in slackware.I need to change the PATH in it.

...or put it in your home-dir as " ~/.profile "

Thanx for the reply. But i was searching for the .profile for specific user inorder to edit the path there. But ~/.profile doesn't exists.

Unless you've changed it, the only thing in /etc/skel is .screenrc. So if you want to give a user a specific path, you (or they) will need to create their configuration files.

...you can just make it with " $touch ~/.profile ".
then put all user specific bash-settings inthere.

it doesn't matter that it doesn't exist... if you create one it'll work

I would recommend you read through man bash. It gives you a run down on what setting files are read and in what order.
