Problems with xdg-terminal

Hi all you lq'ers

I'm having a slight (and by that I mean game-breaking) problem with xdg-terminal.

I'm an avid fan of Dwarf Fortress, and decided to give the Lazy Newb Pack a try because it has a few pretty great utilities built in to it. The download and extraction process went swimmingly, loading up PyLNP through the terminal works just fine, but whenever I hit the button to start up DF, I get the following:

Code:
 bash-4.2$ ./PyLNP
xdg-terminal: configured terminal program 'xterm' not found or not executable
I have tried setting $TERM to uxterm and rxvt through the use of the export command, but the same type of error comes up every time:

Code:
bash-4.2$ export TERM=uxterm
bash-4.2$ ./PyLNP
xdg-terminal: configured terminal program 'uxterm' not found or not executable

bash-4.2$ export TERM=rxvt
bash-4.2$ ./PyLNP
xdg-terminal: configured terminal program 'rxvt' not found or not executable
I've been googling for over and hour and all I've come up with is the developers of PyLNP considering adding an option to the config file to manually choose a terminal, or something of that nature, and a bunch of man pages on xdg-* programs.

So, LQ, could you help me out here?

Sincerely,
Steve

Problems with xdg-terminal

So I had a crazy idea that for some reason worked.

I logged out from my user account and logged in as root, copied over the LNP directory, ran it, and it worked perfectly! Now to just figure out why...
