Problems with Serial Console Installation with minicom
I have been trying to install Slackware 12.0 via a serial console with absolutely no luck. If Pat reads these forums, he needs to make some changes to the FAQ and the 12.0 CD ramdisk environment. The machine (my only x86 machine) has no video card.
1) Kernel base.i is no longer included in the startup disk? Every instance of it in the FAQ NEEDS to be replaced with hugesmp.s or huge.s. That one took a lot of sleuthing.
2) The initial shell/getty for the serial console when you use console=ttyS0 is useless in the installer. I'm using a VT102 emulator (minicom), and everything works fine on the command line, but the ENTER key doesn't work properly in the setup program or the setkeyboard program. And since there's no agetty/getty on the ramdisk, I can't fire up a new one on ttyS1 or anything.
I guess I'm going to be installpkg'ing everything by hand. Or maybe I'll just download 10 - I know it worked then.
