ok, I just got through running the ati-installer and fglrxconfig, and things seem to be working pretty well as far as display resolution goes, however 3d acceleration still seems to be broke. I notice that there's a FATAL error inserting the fglrx modules due to an invalid module format error. I'm still new to configuring by hand in Slackware, so I don't exactly know what the problem is. looking at my dmesg, I get this:
fglrx: version magic '2.6.13 PENTIUMM gcc-3.4' should be '2.6.13 PENTIUMM gcc-3.
3'
fglrx: version magic '2.6.13 PENTIUMM gcc-3.4' should be '2.6.13 PENTIUMM gcc-3.
3'
I assume this relates to my installing the gcc3.4.4 packages from the testing CD of Slackware 10.2. Perhaps this was a stupid thing to do, but was curious just to see if I could do it. Can someone give me some input on what exactly this means, and what I need to do to get fglrx up and running?
Thanks
EDIT: I also installed a custom built 2.6.13 kernel, but I'm not sure if it was before or after I changed up gcc. Could this be part of the problem?
EDIt2: OK, I fixed it. I rebuilt the kernel and things ran slicker than snot. must've been a problem with switching to the gcc3.4.4. Damn, it feels GOOD to solve a problem on your own
