I have recently installed Slackware9.1 andI have been having a problem when I add a new user. I use adduser and go through each prompt. Then I log out of root and login in as the newuser, BUT I cannot user startx, or cant enter certain dir's like the FTP dir. I need some help with this please.

what happens when you type 'startx' as user? and to which user groups do you add your new user? Also which FTP directory are you talking about? The one in /home?

This is what the first summary of adding a new user (angela) to my system looks like. I think the most important part is that it has to belong to users.
