Problems setting up sendmail on slack 10

Sendmail version 8.12.11 (installed with slack distro)
Objective: Set up slack box as an email server with sendmail and Pop3

Working directory: /usr/share/sendmail/cf/cf (This is where the Build command is located, so I decided to try to work from here. Docs say everything should be a directory above. They don't match reality)

I've copied the
Code:
sendmail-slackware.mc
to
Code:
sendmail.mc
. I've changed the line
Code:
include(`../m4/cf.m4')
to
Code:
include ('../../m4/cf.m4)
.
When I run
Code:
./Build sendmail.cf
I get
Code:
sendmail.cf:1637:/usr/bin/m4: Cannot open /usr/share/sendmail/cf/mailer/.m4: No such file or directory
Code:
Error: No system type defined (use OSTYPE macro)
There are lots of *.m4 files in /usr/share/sendmail/cd/mailer, but not an .m4 file by itself. The OSTYPE macro does exist in the sendmail.mc file.

Any ideas?

I had a lot of trouble when I tried setting up sendmail the first time. Maybe this will help you out. It's for Slackware 9.1, but it should still get you going.
