Problems mounting a Samba network share

Hi everyone,

I recently installed Slackware64 14.2 on my pc at work. I noticed that when I connect to the file server (again with Slackware64 14.2) Samba indicates as Protocol Version NT1, which is the first version of Samba. I'd like to connect using the Samba protocol version 3, like Windows 10. If I try to mount the share adding vers=3.0 in fstab, I get these errors:

mount error(22): Invalid argument
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

Obviously if I don't specify what version to use, I can mount the share, but it is mounted with NT1 version.

What should I do? Recompile the kernel?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you need to recompile the kernel with CONFIG_CIFS_SMB2 (File System > Network File Systems > SMB2 and SMB3 Network file system support) which enables support for SMB version 2, including SMB3.
