I am using slackware 10.0 and am having trouble installing my usb printer. It's an HP deskjet 3320. There is a installation procedure outlined here:
http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/install.php
it (hpijs-1.6) worked fine for me a few months ago when I was using old red-hat 9 but there is a whole gui walk-through for redhat, and when I try to do the steps that are indicated for 'other distributions' (there, at the end of the page) it wants me to have a browser installed (and be in X) which is where I'm running into problems. The system is streamlined and without a gui, (it's only like 50ish megs for the project that I'm working on) and I want to install the printer without having X or gnome or any of that installed. any thoughts?
I found there is a way to set up cups from the cmd line but. . . it's beyond my skill to understand the man file, let alone get it working right. (The lpadmin is what I'm talking about) I guess thats my question. arg plz work damn it! *kicks compy* (maybe I should just install lynx or some console able browser to manipulate cups. . . hmm)
