when i boot up into the new kernal i recived the follow message before login
FATAL: Module agpgart not found.
FATAL: Module ide_scsi not found.
FATAL: Module snd_pcm_oss not found.
FATAL: Module snd_mixer_oss not found.
plus when i type lsmod i see no modules
could you please tell me what I could of done to create such problems?? the module I am missing listed above and can't seem to find in make gconfig or menuconfig,, where exaclty are they .. thank you so much for what ever help[ you can give..
You've to reinstall alsa-driver. I dunno if reinstalling the pkg will solve the problem as i always install alsa from sources but it should do the trick
As the previous poster said, install the alsa drivers from source using the instructions for your card at http://www.alsa-project.org/
For the first two errors, assuming that you have agpgart compiled into the kernel and you don't need scsi emulation anymore, then comment out the corresponding entries in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules.
well thats the thing I don't think I have agp gart install in the kernel (I was wondering where it is on the make menuconfig because i cant seem to find it??) also when i run lsmod i see nothing, I think that may be a problem ??? or is it??? thank you for your help so far
you can grep the file to find out what is compiled into the kernel or as a module. Since the module names are not always named BAR (from the above example), is there a way to find out what modules are available, not just the ones that are loaded (using lsmod)?
I'm not sure, but I think this is the option you need:
CONFIG_AGP=m
It should be somewhere under the driver section, I think. Check the help on that option to see if that is correct for agpgart. If you have CONFIG_AGP=y then agpgart won't be listed in lsmod.
