problem with scanner epson perfectionV370

Hello,

This scanner works well on a computer with slackware64-current.

I wanted to make it work on another one. So I installed

iscan-2.30.1-1.usb0.1.ltdl7.x86_64
iscan-data-1.36.0-1.noarch
iscan-plugin-perfection-v370-1.0.0

(the same as in the old computer).
I have exactly the same /etc/sane.d directory on the two computers.

I have run the command
Quote:
iscan-registry --add interpreter usb 0x04b8 0x014a /usr/lib64/iscan/libiscan-plugin-perfection-v370 /usr/share/iscan/esfwdd.bin

And now "scanimage -L" gives (after some noise from the scanner) on the old computer where it works:
Quote:
device `epkowa:interpreter:005:005' is a Epson Perfection V370 Photo flatbed scanner
device `epson:libusb:005:005' is a Epson flatbed scanner
and "sane-find-scanner" gives
Quote:
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x014a [EPSON Perfection V37/V370]) at libusb:005:005

But on the other new one:
"scanimage -L":
Quote:
device `epson:libusb:001:016' is a Epson flatbed scanner
and no noise from the scanner.
and "sane-find-scanner"
Quote:
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x014a [EPSON Perfection V37/V370]) at libusb:001:016
could not fetch string descriptor: Pipe error
could not fetch string descriptor: Pipe error
What did I miss on the new computer ?

the problem is solved by
ln -s /usr/lib64/libsane-epkowa.so.1.0.15 /usr/lib64/libsane-epkowa.so.1

What happened is that the epson packages must be installed manually, the "install.sh" script does not work: it gives
basename: missing operand
cannot find a supported package manager
(but I have "rpm"). I forgot the "doinst.sh" scripts in the rpms....

Have you seen http://www.giustetti.net/wiki/index....Slackware_14.2 ?
iscan is also provided by Alien Bob, http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/

I followed the same install steps outlined by Toutatis (though I installed AlienBob's iscan packages) and added 'epkowa' to the /etc/sane.d/dll.conf file. With this I did not have to symlink the libsane-epkowa.so library.

# scanimage -L

You mentioned that the Perfection V370 Photo scanner works in slackware current.
I've been trying to set it up in slackware 14.2 64-bit with no success so far.
For instance 'scanimage -L' does not detect the scanner (sane-find-scanner does).
I downloaded the iscan, iscan-data source as well as the v370 plugin, built them
as slackware packages and installed them.
Code:
iscan_2.30.3-1.tar.gz
iscan-data_1.39.0-1.tar.gz
iscan-plugin-perfection-v370-1.0.0-2.x86_64.rpm
My /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf is basically this (all the rest is commented out):
Code:
usb 0x04b8 0x014a
Likewise /etc/sane.d/dll.conf contains this line:
Code:
epkowa
I have a file /var/lib/iscan/interpreter with the following contents:
Code:
interpreter usb 0x04b8 0x014a /usr/lib64/iscan/libiscan-plugin-perfection-v370 /usr/share/iscan/esfwdd.bin
The (usb) device has the correct mode/ownership (root lp)

My question now is, have you tried it in slackware 14.2?
