problem with running emacs as su


any time i run emacs..as root when i am logged into x as another user i get...
emacs: cannot connect to X Server :0.0.
Check the Display enviroment variable or use '-d'.

how do i fix this...ianyone know?

Several possibilities :)

emacs -nw file

If you like the X interface...

for safety reasons I'd suggest the following

ssh -X root@yourhostnam "emacs <your file>"
