Problem with Pidgin when chatting with someone else using Pidgin on Ubuntu

I have a problem with Pidgin.

I use Pidgin to chat through Yahoo and so far, I has always been able to chat with all my other friends when they use Yahoo Messenger on Windows. But recently, I have a friend who use Pidgin on Ubuntu, and there is a problem. Whenever I type something, his Pidgin let him know that I'm typing something. But after I send it, he could never receive it. He told me that he could chat with someone else using Pidgin on Linux fine. The thing is, if I chat with him using the Y!M inside the Yahoo mailbox, then it is OK.

Have any of you encounter similar problem?

Which version of Pidgin are you using? Maybe you should try with newer one...

Nothing clever comes to my mind right now, but maybe you could delete your settings for Pidgin and set it up again.

$rm -r ~/.purple
