Problem Running certain apps

Hi,
Sorry for the a bit stupid Subject.

I'm using Slackware current (upgraded from 9.0).
I have the problem, that I can't start some applications under XFCE.
For example file-roller or Anjuta. If I type 'file-roller' to the console, nothing happens, ie. there are no error messages on the console and the process appears in the process table (ps), but no window shows up. I have to press Ctrl-C in the console to get a new prompt.
The same happens with Anjuta, while other applications work normally (like Mozilla, gftp, sylpheed or OO).
Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance.

I don't know what file-roller is and how it responds to
upgrades, but anjuta i.e. is built against several Gnome
libs but AFAIK not part of the Slack-Packs ... thus, if
you ugrade Gnome, you may have to re-compile
anjuta ...

Cheers,
Tink

Thanks for the answer. I'll try that
(file-roller is a frontend for various archivers)
