problem N slack9.1


the users don't have shell .. can't use command ..

after putting username and password show

-bash: /etc/profile: permission denied
-bash2.05b$

user can't use commands .. if i create new user .. the same problem ..

How did you create the users? What does their entry look like in /etc/passwd ??

What exactly have you done or changed recently or when did this start occuring? More details get better responses ?

after uninstall kmess msn messenger .. it's going with problem ..

i create new user by this command

adduser name

--
i can login by user .. but i can't use commands .. for example ..

startx

it's said command not found ..

--
i install kmess msn messenger again .. the same problem ..

I'd suggest you fix that one ... should help ;)

Path and other important things are set-up there,
and if the user can't read it ... too bad :}

do
ls -l /etc/profile
and make sure your permissions look like this.
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2431 May 22 09:04 /etc/profile

www.slackware.com go to the book entry and go to the permissions part and their u will understand what to do ..
or if u want to logg in now just have
the
su
password
it will give u enough permissions for now
