Problem Installing on a Compaq Presario Notebook

Hi, I'm trying to do a clean install of Slackware 10
on my Compaq Presario 2100 laptop. I boot from CD and
it goes through the recognition routine, but when it
gets to option to load support for non-us keyboards,
the keyboard is unresponsive, so I am unable to hit
enter and get past this screen. Is there a way to get
past this?

when choosing which kernel to boot in the slackware installation screen do...
bare.i nousb nodma

I too have a compaq and usb doesnt work with the 2.4.x kernels.
Also do nodma to stop the hardrive from not responding

I haven't found the solution, but I've a similar problem with Debian Sarge on a Presario 2520 EA. I can see the setup screen, but I cannot navigate the menus : the keyboard doesn't work.
