Problem compiling from source

Whenever I try and compile something from source I always get halted by an error during make and it always ends up at:

g++: /usr/lib/./libstdc++.so: No such file or directory

I've tried googling without much success and I don't seem to be able to search the forums here at the moment for some reason.

Does anyone know what this means and what I can do?

regards

The above link may help you.

You are missing some libraries. The slackware package browser will tell you what package they are in and where to find them. i did a search based on Slack 10 but you'll see what to do if you are running current.

Franklin,

Many thanks for your reply and your link, that was what I was looking for.

In the meantime however amidst much frustration I also managed to trash kde so I finally settled on a fresh install. Mind you, I also managed to persuade my wife that we no longer needed the xp partition so something good came out of it :-)

regards,

Audiophiles have a term they use when discussing set-ups (like large beautiful-sounding and ugly-looking speakers):

WAF - Wife Acceptance Factor

Guess it comes into play every where.....

Glad I could help.
