Snowball0916,

I didn't mention this in my last post both because I have not used Slackware yet (and the other two posters have) as well as at that point I thought it might just be adding confusion to the discussion. I am really addressing this first to H_TeXMeX_H and onebuck, but is it possible the PPP is set up fine, but perhaps a misconfiguration of eth0 is clobbering the default route PPP set up? I am proposing this while unfamiliar with the Slack configuration tools/files ...

(FWIW, Slackware is definitely on my to-do list. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.)

DUDE This may help!

here's the solution to ur problem:
first you need to setup pppoe using the command pppoe-setup
when the setup is over its down for you and now the real thing .whenever you start ur system ,after that type the folowing command:
ifconfig eth0 down
then typeppoe-start and when u are connected you can ping any site i hope it will do for you just like it worked for me after 2 days full of madness but i still cant understand how this works but sure it does and do reply if it works for you.

typing ifconfig eth0 down wont solve anything...
at least it didn't do for me
it just disabled the connection even further

you need to setup 2 things
DNS servers and Default GateWay
first edit the /etc/resolv.conf
have it say something like that:
nameserver 193.189.168.11
nameserver 193.189.168.12

those IPs are my ISPs nameservers, yours are 100% different

then go to /etc/ppp
touch ip-up
use ur favurite editor(i use pico):
pico ip-up

enter this line into it:
add default gw yourIP ppp0

pppoe-stop
pppoe-start
it should work...
if you don't have a static IP then every time you'll have a different IP and the line in ip-up
will be a bit different
but i don't know how cuz i don't have a dynamic IP
