Probably a real dumb question but, can LMDE desktop be used for Slackware?

Hello:

My favorite desktop is the one used by Linux Mint Debian.

Can it be used in Slackware?

Thanks,

Mint, in and of itself, is the distribution. You can use KDE, GNOME, Fluxbox, XFCE, etc. with it. When you use Mint, which desktop environment do you use? If it is KDE, Fluxbox, or XFCE, those come with Slackware. If you want to use GNOME, then you need to check out GnomeSlackBuild (http://gnomeslackbuild.org/).

Mint's highly customized desktop cannot be used with Slackware.

The Linux Mint desktop is just a highly customized version of Gnome. You could probably make a Gnome desktop look pretty much the same on Slackware, but you won't be able to get the Mint control center. And really, who needs it?

Thanks to all.

My LMDE desktop is Gnome and I really like the 'feel' and look of it, if that's the way to express it.

I tried the Gnome SlackBuild but felt like I had been transported all the way back to UbuntuLand.

I use LMDE less and less now that I have to reinstall my 'clobbered' Slackware KDE system less and less.

When I messed with Gnome in Slackware I was able to pull the default Mint theme off my laptop which ran Mint 8 at the time. I realized it would of just been easier to make the theme myself since you only get the colors out of it.
