prism2 monitor mode

I'm trying to get my linksys wireless card in monitor mode. I have a default load of Slackware 9.1. I've read a lot of posts, but I'm still a little confused. I have a couple of questions:

1 - Do I need to recompile the kernel to get new prism2 drivers loaded?
2 - How do I check to see which prism2 drivers are currently loaded?

If you know a good faq on this topic, that would be great.

That's how I would do it. But there might be a way to just compile it as a modules then load the module.

If your card comes up during boot you can look at dmesg and it will tell you what's loading.

Which version of the WPC11 are you using? You might be better off using the orinoco_cs drivers from Shmoo. http://airsnort.shmoo.com/orinocoinfo.html
