Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Has anyone got a Fuji Xerox Docuprint C525A printer working within Slackware64 14.1? There is a driver available from the manufacture but it is a 32 bit - it failed to work. Does any one have a working driver64 for the above? How do you get a 32bit driver working in pure Slackware64 bit? I did get the multib32 files downloaded and installed and this helped in that the print job was sent to the printer as completed but the print did not print them. Any help much appreciated.
frankbell > I Tried the pbone site but did not find the rpm - tried to search for dpc525a.rpm and others but did not find - was unable to figure out on the site how you do a contents search, I only was able to do a name search.
*chuckles* I have the same printer (xerox phaser 6125n) and didn't do my homework properly! My home file/print-server had to be 'downgraded' to 32 bit - which was no biggie.
I tried the rpm - but it didn't work, but
Dirty? Yes! - but it works!!
Can't remember where I got it - probably somewhere on the Fuji homepage ... you _could_ try to google for the name ... if you can't find it, let me know and I'll send it to you ...
Actually, I have the best thing (but still only 32-bits!!)
It's a tar.bz2-file (310k) with all the files you need - so just do 'cd /' and then do a 'tar xvjf' on it ...
Only thing - being 32bit, you first have to extract it to somewhere else, and then change any 'lib' to 'lib32', and then just copy the lot ...
Thank You linuxtinker,I have downloaded the above file - will try it out soon. The Printer driver that I am after is not the one the manufacturer supplies as it will not work with Slackware64, but there is one that does as I used it with Slamd64 from a Mepis site. I thought I had backed it up but when I looked for it it was not there. I gather some one had modified the rpm file so that it would work with 32 bit Linux os and 64 bit Linux os.
Thank You perbh, I gather the xerox phaser 6125n is the same as a Fuji xerox C525A Printer - not sure how to use the above code yet as I am new to Linux.
