Question Printer Hp c4480 slackware

I need to find the driver for printer hp c4480 in slackware.
I found a driver but this driver is not for slackware. When I connect this printer in usb device, slackware not detected this hardware.
I installed the package hplip but this printer is not here.

I will be waiting a positive answer.
Thanks a lot.

Walter Marquez.

The printer is not there because you have not configured the printer.
I think the easiest and surest way to configure the printer is to go here:
http://localhost:631/
and set it up. Click "Add Printer" and go through the options. At one point make sure to select the USB printer with the serial number in the name. It should also automatically choose the right driver.

The printer is listed here as working perfectly using HPLIP drivers:

What Version of hplip do you have installed?

According to this website: http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web...00_series.html
the printer is supported since HPLIP version 2.8.5.

If you use the package from provided in Slackware current ( Hplip 3.9.2 ) remember to install cupsddk-package as well because ppd-files aren't static anymore but will be build dynamically.

Using this package, cups gave me an error like: "foomatic-rip-hplip missing - no such file or directoy" which I could solve by downloading Slackwares source package, editing the slackbuilds script to enable everything with foomatic and rebuild it.
Now my OJ j4680 works like a charm.

Hope this helps ...

I've used this same printer without difficulty in Slack 12.2. Try the instructions given in post #2 and chances are you'll be in good shape.
