Printer Canon LBP 3010 in Slackware 15.0

Hello!

I recently got an old Canon LBP 3010 laser printer. I just can't get it to work in Slackware 15.0 x64. Please, dear users, help me!

ps: drivers from Canon LBP 3010, also compatible with Canon LBP 3018 and LBP 3050 models

From Dmitriy

Give this a try.

https://driverscollection.com/?H=i-S...Linux%20x86_64

I don't have any Canon printer, so best of luck with it.

Reading this page:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Canon_CAPT

It seems that it might be possible to get it working, but you probably need to install multilib to be able to run the proprietary canon 32-bit binary driver. Reading about the ugly ssh cludge needed to get remote printing to work I don't think I would want to catch such a printer even if someone were throwing it at me, I would probably try to dodge instead.

regards Henrik

Lightbulb An unorthodox Solution

This is an unorthodox solution

1. Install Windows in Virtualbox as Guest operating System.
2. Connect the printer to your computer and also in the windows guest by Devices---> USB ----> Your printer
3. Install the printer drivers in windows guest
3. Reboot your windows guest
4. It might be an hassle but it will work without having to enable multilib.
5. It will also work in QEMU Windows guests.

There seems to be a CAPT driver V2.71 that is later than the V2.70 on drivers collection. The documentation says the 64-bit version has been tested on Fedora. There is also a dependency on Ghostscript, but that is part of the standard Slackware install.
