pppconfig
i keep getting a script failed error when i try to config my dial up connection. i know all the specs, userids and passwords. if have tried all tty and com settings. the phone line is plugged in...is there something i am missing. i am running a hp pavilion with an internal modem...i assume it is compatible as it is only a couple of years old.
it is not even trying to dial out as of now. |
Run minicom. Minicom is an AT-program wich allows you to communicate directly with your modem via AT-commands.
First: minicom -s (this sets minicom up) Then: minicom Now you can issue commands to your modem. Type 'AT' (capitals), it should reply 'OK' if everything is OK. If not, i refer you to the 'PPP-HOWTO' ( /usr/doc/Linux-HOWTOS/PPP-HOWTO ) If it replies OK you should also try typing 'ATDT[your-isp's-number]' and check if the modem dials. Then you at least know the modem works... If haven't tried 'pppsetup' that comes with slack, try it, works like a charm... |
It is probably a winmodem. Check out linmodems.org to see if it lists it
