Possible bug with transmission+vlc

I don't know if this is system specific for me but it is consistent so I thought i should ask if it happened to anyone else.

When downloading a Torrent with transmission, if I also watch a movie using vlc, after 5-20 min I get a notification box saying Kwin crashed with 3 options, 1 restart 2 shut it down 3 close the notification. Regardless of which I click on after a few min my system drops me to the login screen. When I use either alone they both work perfectly and only when using both has Kwin ever crashed.

I got transmission from slackbuilds in the 14.1 section and vlc from alien bobs site. I have removed both and re-downloaded and rebuilt both thinking I may have gotten one of them for 14 before they were updated for 14.1, but have the same results.

Many have trouble with version 2.1 of vlc.

Fortunately Alien Bob was gracious enough to supply a downgrade to vlc 2.0:

Recently I discovered that this years release of Debian Wheezy 7.4 is using vlc 2.0.3 too.

Try Alien Bobs vlc 2.0.8 and see if it works.

A couple observations I've made.

Kwin crashes when a download completes in transmission while watching a movie, I didn't realize at first that a notification was causing the crash.

It only happens when using transmission-qt, switching to transmission-gtk works without the crash so possibly my problem was with the qt gui rather than transmission itself.
