Hi,

I support what @astrogeek says.

I'd like to emphasize one important aspect: the sooner you start creating your own components library, the sooner you will free yourself from 3rd parties.
What CAD software you chooses is one thing (and not easy one), but please learn to create components. And remember, bundled libraries come with no warranty: if you're device gets destroyed because the symbol was wrong, there is nobody to blame (but you). I remember using bundled libs only at the learning stage, now I always create everything from scratch.

How about xcircuit http://opencircuitdesign.com/xcircuit/

I just happen to know it, but did not use it. It has slackbuild script :)

Just look at its library collections, it has tube amp and tube collections, not sure it fits your need.

Slackbuild spcript https://www.slackbuilds.org/reposito...emic/xcircuit/

+1, also schematics look more consistant following your drawing style using your own symbol library rather than using various symbols from here and there.

Thanks everyone not only for app suggestions but also usage ideas. I tried a few online schematic drawing apps and some are not bad. I was impressed by Tetex-based apps and surprised at how pro they look. My first major commitment however is going to be with DIA. It seems highly customizable which is particularly valuable to me as simplification suits me well for what my needs are...namely few. I just need a simple drawing mechanism with a very small library of devices. Thanks again. I'm marking this solved though I will likely play with more than just DIA.
