please answer...

I would like to switch from redhat 7.2 to slackware, but I have done alot of patching to my 2.4.18 kernel and would like to keep that same kernel, could I cp my kernel and paste it into slack, and use that kernel? right now if I install slack it will lock up the laptop real quick and I cannot compile a kernel to get my ACPI options added in, before it locks up or just shutsdown on me....

A stock Redhat kernel most likely wouldn't work with a Slack install hence most of the time Redhat customizes the kernel that comes with thiers tailored to their needs.

Also a side note: Try to make better thread titles, " help me or please answer" doesn't help members out when performing searches or browsing of knowing what your real problem is.

Haven't I tried to answer this same question here http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=37322
please keep the threads intact, it is very hard to hunt it down plus you are creating a mess by double posting and confusing members, don't forget that your thread is also a hint for somebody else who searches the forums for that same question.

I should have realized this was a double post, I even had the other thread title changed on the other one cause it was just as bad as this one. But other one is closed, this one is kind of Slackware specific so we'll leave it here.
