Playing audio cd's

how do i play audio cd's?

when i put it in my drive, i open up cd player in gnome and i get a drive error

how do i get it to work?

You could try to su to root

chmod 666 /dev/cdrom
chmod 666 /mnt/cdrom

worked for me. Hope I was a help.

you also need to give your user proper permissions to access .......
/dev/mixer and /dev/dsp

alright cool thx, it worked

i did a chmod 644 actually to give read but not write access to the device, then i updated my fstab to allow users to mount (changed owners to users)
