Playback from 2 programs to 1 soundcard.

Hi. I'm trying to get playback to wrok from 2 programs from 1 soundcard. I'd like to be able to play something like Wolfenstein:ET while on Teamspeak. Yet, with my current config it doesn't work.
Also, I'd like to switch from my onboard sound to a newly bought SoundBlaster Live!.
Could anyone perhaps help me? I'm not too sure what I should give you so I'd be greatful if you told me what to show you. Thanks.

AFAIK, the most effective way to do what you want is to firstly ensure you're using ALSA as your base sound server, and then update your configuration to use the dmix plugin. there are a lot of very good guides around to do this, the one on gentoo.org is particularly good (and essentially distro agnostic) This will allow multiple sound outputs to be mixed to a single channel and played through to the soundcard.
